The Original Barcelona by bike tour

As in a time line, from the Roman Barcino to the «Super Manzanas» under construction,The Original starts from the Gothic Quarter, you pedal through its labyrinthine alleys, its squares, its walls, evade tourists, vendors and workers and criss-cross the heart of the old city until entering the Eixample, the neighborhood designed by the utopian socialist Ildefons Cerdà with its modernist buildings, historic bars, modern restaurants, traditional specialist shops to finally reach the unfinished Sagrada Familia.
The topographical and cultural highest point has been reached, and after three further explanations, we head down to the relaxed final stretch along the beach and back to the bustling old town.
And there it comes to it’s end: “The Original”.

Barcelona by e-bike tour

Set off from the Gothic Quarter, we will cycle up on e-bikes the 177 meters that separate the sea line from the top of Montjuic, or «Mount of the Jews», or as the Hispano-Roman Pomponio Mela would say back in the 1st century AD, «Mons Lovi»s, that is, Mount Jupiter that is, Mount of the»Father of Light». The truth is that from the “Monte de la Luz”, Montjuic, you can have a panoramic view of the entire city, the port, the Eixample, the maritime mountain range and understand why so many soldiers over the centuries, used this vantage point to control the city destination.

We booked this tour for our first day in Barcelona. Wanted to start off with an overview of the city. We weren't disappointed. Gabi asked us what we already had plans to see, and then brought us to areas that we might have missed--a true custom tour. She had a great knowledge of the history and character of the city, and was a pleasure to be with. Bikes were lightweight and easy to maneuver through narrow streets. Would highly recommend this tour.
